Policies & Information for Families
At Little Jewels Learning Center, clear policies help us create a safe, respectful, and well-organized environment for children, families, and staff. These guidelines are designed to protect every child in our care and keep families informed.
Hours of Operation
Little Jewels Learning Center is open Monday through Friday from 5:00 AM to 11:59 PM, and Saturday 7:00 AM to 11:59 PM.
We follow standard holiday closures, including New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Families are notified in advance of any additional closures.
Attendance & Pickup
Regular attendance supports consistency and learning. If your child will be absent, families should notify the center before 10:00 AM.
Only adults listed on the authorized pickup form may pick up a child. Identification may be required. Children will not be released to unauthorized individuals under any circumstances.
Late pickups may result in additional fees as outlined in the parent handbook.
Health & Illness
To protect the health of all children and staff, children must remain home if they are experiencing:
- Fever
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Communicable illnesses
Children may return once symptoms have resolved according to health guidelines. Families will be notified if their child becomes ill during the day.
Medication Policy
All medication, including prescription and over-the-counter medication, must be provided in its original container with proper labeling.
Medication authorization forms must be completed by the parent or guardian before medication can be administered.
Nutrition & Meals
We serve breakfast, lunch, and snacks daily, following nutritional guidelines and food safety standards.
Families are encouraged to notify the center of any allergies or dietary restrictions so we can best support each child’s needs.
Behavior & Guidance
Little Jewels Learning Center uses positive behavior guidance techniques that promote respect, self-control, and emotional growth.
Physical discipline or harsh punishment of any kind is not permitted. Our staff works with children using patience, redirection, and age-appropriate guidance to encourage positive behavior
Safety & Supervision
Your child’s safety is our top priority.
Safety practices include:
- Monthly fire drills
- Strict sanitation and cleaning routines
- Secure classrooms and supervision
- Compliance with Florida DCF child-to-teacher ratios
All staff members are trained to follow safety and emergency procedures.
Rest & Quiet Time
Children are provided with daily nap or quiet time based on their age and individual needs. Each child has their own bedding to ensure comfort and cleanliness.
Communication with Families
We believe strong communication builds trust. Families are encouraged to speak with staff, ask questions, and stay engaged in their child’s experience.
Important updates, notices, and reminders are shared regularly to keep families informed.
Partnership with Families
Little Jewels Learning Center values families as partners. By working together, we create a consistent and supportive experience that helps children thrive both at home and in the classroom.
